Destiny 2’s Solar builds in the Lightfall expansion are an excellent choice for players who want to, quite literally, melt through their opponents without being preoccupied with their HP bar. The fire-based subclass is one of Light and has been available since the first game. While it was only usable by Hunters and Warlocks at Destiny’s launch, Titans later received a Solar subclass. Though each class uses the Light element differently, its ultimate purpose across all three is healing and buffing the team for more damage.
Certain Solar builds, especially for high-end content, such as Raids, Dungeons, and Nightfalls, are indispensable. Although Solar Warlocks in Destiny 2, particularly those with Well of Radiance, has always been seen under these lenses. However, Solar Hunters and Solar Titans can contribute immensely with a proper build. They can be some of the heaviest-hitting ones in a Fireteam for both PvE and PvP activities in Bungie’s online shooter.

How Solar Works In Destiny 2
As mentioned previously, Solar builds focus primarily on healing and buffing both the player and their Fireteam. As such, it operates as the game's most straightforward support subclass category. However, it is capable of dealing immense amounts of damage, making it highly versatile for all three classes. The three main buffs are Cure, Restoration, and Radiant. While Cure is a single instance of healing, Restoration is a status that continuously heals HP and shields. Radiant is a damage buff, which boosts the user’s overall damage with weapons – and as of Destiny 2's: Lightfall expansion, it also disrupts Barriers Champions.
Regarding debuffs used against targets, Solar subclasses only have two: Scorch and Ignite. Scorch applies a Solar DoT (damage over time) on opponents, and with 100 stacks, it triggers Ignite. The second debuff causes an AoE (area of effect) Solar explosion around the target, which can stop Unstoppable Champions. With the Lightfall expansion, Solar builds in Destiny 2 now have the subclass pickup called Firesprite, which replaces the sunset Wells system and helps with grenade regeneration. This will play an important part in most of the builds.
Best Solar Titan Builds In Destiny 2: Lightfall (Sunbreaker)
Solar builds for Titans in Destiny 2: Lightfall, much like the entire subclass, focus on healing and buffing. In between this improved rate of survivability, they should be dealing massive damage to enemies, be that with their weapons or Abilities. The key to this particular class is taking advantage of the Sunspots that Titans can create with either their Super skills or even Melee kills. Solar Titans should also be spamming grenades as often as they can. This class can quickly turn a small room into a furnace, wiping out many adds. They are also capable of melting through tougher opponents with their melee hammer.

This build will substantially increase the amount of Sunspots that Titans will create with their Solar build. Additionally, they should be able to keep on spamming their melee and, by defeating opponents, create more Sunspots. The build also guarantees the user and the Fireteam will become Radiant and get Firesprite, significantly improving damage output and grenade restoration. The last touch uses the Exotic armor, Loreley Splendor, which is vital to the build’s survivability and healing aspects. The only issue is that the item only drops from soloing Legend and Master Lost Sectors in Destiny 2, which can be quite tricky.

Best Solar Hunter Builds In Destiny 2: Lightfall (Gunslinger)
While Solar Titans are hands-on and close-range powerhouses, Hunters take a different approach to Solar builds in Destiny 2: Lightfall. The most notable difference is that they cannot create Sunspots, so their survivability comes from their agility and ability to trigger Restoration. However, they compensate for their lack of survivability with extremely high DPS. While dealing with large crowds is not their expertise, Solar Hunters are excellent choices for melting through bosses, with some of the highest DPS rates in the game, depending on their build.

This specific build is all about spawning as many Orbs of Power as possible, collecting them, and using the Exotic Star-Eater Scales’ buff to improve Super damage. It is a perfect build for destroying bosses, though it does lack a bit when it comes to larger groups of adds. Nonetheless, it should have enough firepower to justify its use, notably in raid encounters or against Nightfall bosses. The Hunter Solar build in Destiny 2: Lightfall is, despite its damage potential, the worst of all three Solar classes, but still a good option if players are struggling with their DPS phases.
Best Solar Warlock Builds In Destiny 2: Lightfall (Dawnblade)
Warlocks, like Hunters, did not see their Solar builds in Destiny 2 change that much from the 3.0 rework to the Lightfall expansion’s release. Ultimately, Solar Warlocks are the best support Guardians in the game, tied with Ward of Dawn Titans. This is because their focus is almost entirely on healing and buffing the team’s overall damage through both the Well of Radiance and the proper Aspects and Fragments. DPS Daybreak Warlocks are also a great choice; however, they offer less survivability than a Solar Warlock Build.

This Warlock Solar build will see Guardians focusing on triggering both Cure and Restoration through straightforward means and combat. Spamming grenades is central to this build and, as often as possible, placing Well of Radiance for both the player and their team – while also generating Orbs of Power in Destiny 2. It is a great way to play and ensure that Guardians make it through harder activities. Even if extreme damage output is sacrificed, this is compensated for in support abilities.
